Island of Solta

Solta is an island in central Dalmatia (South Croatia), not far from Split, on the west side of the island of Brač, area of 51.9 square kilometers, which belongs to the Split-Dalmatia County. The island is rich in flora and fauna and is full of remains of buildings from the ancient and early Christian times, but aside from the rich historical and cultural heritage, Šolta offers tourists a lot more. The island is small, it is ideal for walks and bike rides through the countryside. Solta is known for good wine and olive oil. The history of Solta’s olive oil is very interesting and after you hear it, it will become very hard to refuse to buy a bottle of oil. Gastronomy is very developed, which is not surprising. Many fish dishes will impress you.

Solta has not fallen under the influence of mass tourism despite the proximity of Split and has retained its authenticity. The ferry departs from Split and destination location is a place called Rogac on the island of Solta. During the season you can find a crowd in Split, it is advisable to arrive a little earlier in the harbor.

If you are coming on island of Solta by ferry, but without a car, after arriving there will be a bus that follows the ferry line schedule. The bus is driving to all cities on island of Solta, so you can easily come to the apartment or to other locations on island.
